Mentone Girls’ Grammar recognises the importance of supporting the wellbeing of our students. Every staff member at Mentone Girls’ Grammar is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment where students can explore their passions, learn from their mistakes and grow into confident, capable and ethical young people.
At the heart of our wellbeing initiatives is our Wellbeing Centre, a dedicated space located in a quiet corner of the campus. Here, a highly qualified team of health, wellbeing, and educational professionals provides guidance and support to both students and staff. The Centre also offers spaces for pilates, yoga, meditation, and other activities designed to nurture the mind, body, and soul, reinforcing our holistic approach to student wellbeing.
Mentone Girls’ Grammar is proud to have two dedicated Educational Psychologist/Counsellors who support students from ELC through to Year 12. They work tirelessly to ensure that students' wellbeing needs are met by providing them with a safe space to voice their concerns, process their problems and plan their goals.
Our highly qualified and experienced counsellors provide psychological counselling and therapy programs for a range of mental health, emotional, and family issues to support your child in achieving their full potential. We take the wellbeing of our students seriously, and our counsellors are an integral part of our commitment to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for every student at our school.
Our registered nurse is available on-site to provide medical assistance and support to our school community. All of our teachers are accredited in First Aid and Anaphylaxis, ensuring that they are able to assist in medical emergencies if needed. We encourage parents to discuss any health concerns or specific medical conditions their child may have with our nurse to ensure we can provide the necessary support and care.
Our Learning Support Teachers consist of both curriculum support teachers and career counsellors. Curriculum support teachers work with students who may require additional support to achieve their academic potential, such as those with learning difficulties or disabilities.
Our career counsellors provide guidance and advice to students regarding their future career paths, including subject selection and tertiary education options. Our Learning Support Teachers play a critical role in ensuring that all students are supported and empowered to reach their full potential.
Mentone Girls’ Grammar welcomes students from all faiths and beliefs, and our Anglican identity underpins our values and principles. Our School Chaplain arranges and leads worship services, encouraging students to participate in the services according to their faith. The Chaplain also provides confidential and supportive counsel, spiritual guidance, and prayer to students who seek it, regardless of their religion or beliefs. We respect the diversity of our community and provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
In addition to our dedicated team of wellbeing professionals, we provide further support to our students through daily mindfulness practices in the classroom, our House System, transition programs, buddy system and parent information sessions. These initiatives are designed to foster a positive and inclusive school culture, providing students with the tools they need to succeed academically, socially and emotionally. We believe that a holistic approach to education, one that encompasses both wellbeing and academic support, is essential to helping our students thrive
