Year 10 is an exciting year, marking the commencement of Senior School in the secondary school curriculum. Students gain more freedom to choose subjects that ignite their passions or showcase their exceptional talents. This pivotal year also lays the groundwork for making informed decisions about their VCE subjects in Year 11 and 12.
The Year 10 academic curriculum is based on the Victorian F-I0 Curriculum for Victorian schools which outlines the required subjects for all Victorian Year 10 students.
Year 10 students must undertake all the subjects in the core blocks.
The Pre-VCE electives are designed to provide students with exposure to a VCE subject to assist them in making informed choices.
*Year 10 students selecting Health, Sport Science, Theatre Studies, Geography and / or Music, can apply for accelerated entry into the VCE Unit 3 & 4 subject inYear 11 - after successfully completing the Pre-VCE Elective subject in Year 10.
• The Accelerated VCE enables students to have a sixth subject to contribute towards their ATAR. Students who possess an academic achievement of B+ (75%) or above overall, have an exemplary attendance record and have demonstrated mature work habits are able to apply for this pathway.
• Students who undertake an Accelerated VCE Subject in Year 10 may, on the advice of their teachers, undertake the Units 3 & 4 sequence of this subject in Year 11 the following year.
As part of their Year 10 experiences, students are also encouraged to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, aerobics, debating, School Production, other forms of social service, various Performing Arts groups, House activities and GSV sporting teams.
