Welcome to Year 10

Year 10 is an exciting year, marking the commencement of Senior School in the secondary school curriculum. Students gain more freedom to choose subjects that ignite their passions or showcase their exceptional talents. This pivotal year also lays the groundwork for making informed decisions about their VCE subjects in Year 11 and 12.

Core Subjects

The Year 10 academic curriculum is based on the Victorian F-I0 Curriculum for Victorian schools which outlines the required subjects for all Victorian Year 10 students.

Year 10 students must undertake all the subjects in the core blocks.

Electives
  • Students can choose 4 elective units in total, two elective units per semester.
  • Please note that the Languages and the Accelerated VCE subjects run all year.
  • A Language counts for 2 elective Units.
  • An Accelerated VCE subject counts for 2 elective Units. Each student will receive careers advice and individual subject selection appointments prior to making subject selections.
  • Please note that classes are subject to minimum sizes. Should a class not be viable, students will be offered their second preference.

Pre-VCE Electives

The Pre-VCE electives are designed to provide students with exposure to a VCE subject to assist them in making informed choices.

*Year 10 students selecting Health, Sport Science, Theatre Studies, Geography and / or Music, can apply for accelerated entry into the VCE Unit 3 & 4 subject inYear 11 - after successfully completing the Pre-VCE Elective subject in Year 10.
